The Photo Restoration Center uses a combination of research, art, technology.
In 1997, Sandra Christie founded The Photo Restoration Center (first named Restoration Photo). Her mission has been to go beyond mere retouching to comprehensively restoring old and damaged photos by employing a unique combination of artistic skill, experienced judgment, state-of-the-art technology and, when necessary, historic research.
As owner and Lead Artist, Sandra restores photos, oversees her team of photo restoration artists, and evaluates every project. While many restoration services rely solely on computer technology, Sandra continually demonstrates that art, judgment and historic accuracy, as well as technology, are all critical for optimal results. She frequently draws on her research skills and knowledge of art history when evaluating and restoring an image, and to authentically reconstruct missing portions of photos.
Sandra has extensive experience in image editing, photo restoration and design. She has taught Adobe Photoshop Image Editing/Manipulation, Adobe Illustrator, Multimedia Development and Computer Interface Design at Parsons School of Design in New York City and the Silvermine Guild Arts Center in Connecticut. She studied fine arts in Paris, and completed intensive study in Digital Fine Art Applications at the University of California at Los Angeles. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Parsons.
Sandra proudly numbers among her clients both caring families and discerning institutions, including the Bonaire (Dutch Caribbean), Stamford (CT) and Sedona (AZ) Historical Societies, the Texas Historical Commission, as well as Chase, Disney, Hasbro, IBM, M&M Mars, Nabisco, Reuters and Seagram.
